Round Two of the Costco Wine Advent-ure is about to begin: El Campeón White Sangria. But is this bottle a champion, my friends? We’re about to put it to the test and find out.
“Grape Wine with Natural Flavors” reads the back of the label…and that’s usually not a marker of a wine of quality. In fact, I’m starting to regret my decision to review all these 2025 Costco Advent Calendar wines. (Wine #1 also didn’t impress.) But the game is on and it’s too late to back out now.

The Label
From the producer: “This white sangria is characterized by vibrant citrus fruit and white peach notes. It offers a sweet, fresh profile with a smooth, supple texture and a round, well-balanced finish, making it a refreshing and enjoyable drink.”
Tasting El Campeón White Sangria
Very pale yellow with aromas of lemon-lime soda, peach ring candy, and pineapple. It’s medium-sweet and medium-bodied. The taste is more of the same: Lemon-lime pop bottle candy, peach candy, pineapple flavoring and white grape juice. There’s a little bit of agreeable malic tartness on the front of the palate–again, similar to sour gummies. Alcohol is very low at 7% ABV.
Besides being sort of a one-note flavor, El Campeón White Sangria is actually not terrible. I do know people who enjoy these lower-alcohol, flavored-wine beverages and this is not a bad example of the style. It doesn’t display any “off” flavors, like yeastiness, bitterness, or spoiled fruit.
This is basically wine candy. Which is fine for people with a sweet tooth or people who don’t, you know, like the taste of actual wine. It’s not the winner I was hoping to find among the 2025 Costco wine squad, but it punches okay for its weight class. It’s produced for Costco/Flying Blue Imports by leading French wine exporter Groupe GCF.
