In observance of Dry January, this month’s event roundup will feature lots of ways to have fun without drinking any wine at all.

Hahaha–just kidding, of course! It’s wine on the calendar this month and every month. 🍷

Once again, we’ve kept an eye out for all the most exciting tastings, wine dinners, and classes in North Texas. Here they are, for your sipping (and resolution-breaking) pleasure.


Landon Winery’s Barrel Tasting and Tour (Greenville)

Saturday, January 3 at 2 PM

On the first Saturday of the month, Landon Winery opens their cellars for their barrel room tour and tasting. This behind-the-scenes experience is guided by an experienced Texas winemaker who can answer your winemaking questions. Along the way, you’ll taste Landon wines at different stages in their maturation. Tour/tasting lasts approximately 2-2.5 hours.

$42.22/person. Tickets via Eventbrite. There is also an option to add on cheese boards or snacks in advance of your visit.

Natural Wines Tasting at Eataly Dallas

Saturday, January 3 or Saturday, January 17 at 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM

Sample a selection of natural wines with Italian food pairings. Eataly’s educational tasting sessions are a great way to practice your tasting notes and explore new wine styles. Due to popular demand, January’s classes will be offered on two separate dates. $65.26/person. Tickets (for Jan. 3 or Jan. 17 are available via Eventbrite.) 21+.

Wine Wednesday Tour with Bestie Bus (Fort Worth)

Wednesday, January 7, 14, 21, or 28 at 6 PM – 10 PM

Wednesdays are for wine-ing in Fort Worth! Ladies, hop on the Bestie Bus to tour the city, shop, and make new friends. You will visit three winery tasting rooms while your driver handles all the traffic and parking. (Passengers buy their own wine tastings. Non-alcoholic refreshments and snacks are provided on the van.)

The wine bus runs every Wednesday at 6 PM, provided a 5-person tour minimum has been met. Tickets are $49.87 via Eventbrite.

Uncorked: Orange Wines at Eataly Dallas

Saturday, January 10 or Saturday, January 24 at 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM

A new-ish wine trend–but one with ancient origins–orange wine is one of the most divisive styles to taste and discuss. Learn all about them with one of Eataly’s beverage guides, and be the orange-wine advocate at your next wine gathering.

Duckhorn Wine Dinner at Carrabba’s (Various Locations)

Tuesday, January 13 at 6:30 PM or Wednesday, January 21 at 6:30 PM

Napa classics from Duckhorn Vineyards pair with crowd-pleasing Italian favorites, including Shrimp Fra Diavolo, Grilled Sirloin Spinaci, and Chocolate Crème Brûlée. $60/person, plus sales tax and gratuity. (This is a steal for a four-course dinner with wine pairings, y’all. In Dallas, $60 barely gets you a pizza and a six-pack anymore.)

The “First Flight” Duckhorn Wine Dinner is being offered at three DFW locations: Dallas, Plano, and Hurst. Depending on your party size, you may be seated with other guests. Reservations required–call the restaurant or reserve online.

Stags’ Leap Wine Dinner at Wine A Little (McKinney)

Wednesday, January 14 at 7 PM – 9 PM

Napa Valley’s iconic Stags’ Leap Winery provides the wine pairings for a sumptuous 4-course dinner by Wine A Little. $116.35/person. Tickets via Eventbrite.

Pop-Up Pizzeria + Vino: An Authentic Italian Pizza & Wine Night (Wylie)

Friday, January 16 at 6 PM – 8 PM

Dig in to authentic Neapolitan-style pizza and Italian desserts…accompanied by specially selected Italian wines, of course! This pop-up pizzeria collaboration by Above Wines, Love Life and Pizza, Wylie Urban Farm & Market has plenty of indoor seating and food options for everyone. Enjoy live Italian music classics while you dine.

Free entry and free parking. Under 21 admitted with parent/guardian. Reservations are not required, but will help the event hosts prepare.

Alto Adige Wine Tasting and Dinner at Eataly Dallas

Friday, January 16 at 6 PM – 8 PM

At the intersection of Alpine and Mediterranean cultures, the Alto Adige region offers food and wine styles found nowhere else. A visiting ambassador from Alto Adige will present six wines from this extraordinary part of Italy, paired with four delicious dishes prepared by Eataly’s chefs. $145.93/person. The Duck & Wine Affair (Dallas)

Saturday, January 17 at 7 PM – 9 PM

Calling all duck lovers! Savor an intimate culinary experience hosted by the Dallas Tasting Society. High gastronomy meets humble digs with this pop-up dining club in a Deep Ellum warehouse. $169.49/person (four courses including wine pairings). Tickets via Eventbrite. Limited to 10 guests.

“Sip, Savor, and Salud” at Total Wine (Various Locations)

Thursday, January 15 at 6 PM – 7:30 PM or Saturday, January 17 at 5 PM – 6:30 PM

Total Wine’s first January offering is an intro to Spanish and Portuguese wines, perfect for wine lovers of any level of knowledge. Wine samples and light nibbles are provided during this seated class experience. $20/person (Total Wine rewards program members may pay less).

DFW has about ten Total Wine locations, and most have “Sip, Savor, and Salud” on their January calendar. Check with your local store’s website for tickets and availability.

Wine & Cheese Lovers Woodworking Class (Garland)

Thursday, January 22 at 1 PM

Impress your guests with handmade wine accessories! This popular make-and-take workshop is offered every few months by the folks at Rockler Woodworking and Hardware in Garland. First, you’ll learn to use a wood lathe to create a wine bottle stopper and a cheese knife handle. Then, you’ll receive expert assistance crafting a live edge wooden cheese board.

Closed-toe shoes and short sleeves required. $108.25/person. Tickets via Eventbrite.

“Cabernet: The King of Grapes” at Total Wine (Various Locations)

Thursday, January 29 at 6 PM – 7:30 PM

It’s the most popular grape variety in the world, and the variations are endless! Taste through a flight of Cabernet Sauvignon as you learn about winemaking styles and regional differences. $20/person (Total Wine rewards program members may pay less).

Total Wines has “King of Grapes” on their January calendar for at least five DFW locations. Check with your local store’s website for tickets and availability.

“Peace, Love, & Murder” Murder Mystery Wine Dinner at Messina Hof (Grapevine)

Friday, January 30 at 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM

Messina Hof’s murder mystery dinners are a fun evening experience where you become part of the story–all while enjoying a three-course dinner and sipping Texas wines! “Peace, Love, & Murder” takes place in 1960s Hollywood, where a shocking crime is about to occur. After ticket purchase, you will be assigned a character and emailed further instructions for taking part in the game.
