Here’s to fall–and a new month full of wine experiences in Dallas-Fort Worth! There’s lots to taste, see, and do in October, including street festivals, wine dinners, educational classes, and more.

World Sake Day Tasting at Pogo’s (Dallas)
Wednesday, October 1 at 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
October 1 is World Sake Day! Pogo’s Wine & Spirits is bringing together eight sake vendors and their extensive portfolios for one epic tasting. This is your chance to sample bottles in every style–crisp, floral, savory, silky, barrel-aged, nuanced, and powerful. Chat with these knowledgeable producers and importers and grow your sake knowledge. $40 + tax and gratuity ($51.96 total). Tickets here.

North Texas Fall Wine Trail
Wednesday, October 1 to Sunday, November 2
Discover Texas wines at your leisure with this self-paced, month-long Texas wine experience. It’s organized by the North Texas Winery Association and sponsored by the city of Gainesville, Texas.

North Texas’s 40 participating wineries invite you to come visit them any time during the month of October. Fall Wine Trail tickets are $55.04 (via Eventbrite) and include at least 3 tasting-size pours at each participating location.

Sommelier Smackdown at Hotel Vin (Grapevine)
Thursday, October 2 at 7 PM – 9 PM
Two Master Sommeliers come to Grapevine, Texas–but only one can prevail in this contest! Jack Mason and Julie Dalton will square off at Hotel Vin for the ultimate wine-pairing competition. Your role is easy: Savor five delicious courses matched with 10 exceptional wines, then vote on your favorites to help choose the winner. Tickets are $145.39 (via Eventbrite).

Charcuterie & Wine Tasting Experience (Dallas)
Saturday, October 4 at 2 PM – 4:30 PM
Presented by Galore Grazing, this hands-on class will teach you some charcuterie and wine-pairing basics to use at your next party. Start with a welcome mimosa, then taste three different wines before rolling up your sleeves to create your own professionally styled grazing board. $86.60/person. Tickets via Eventbrite. Under 21 allowed with parent or legal guardian present.

McKinney Wine & Music Festival 2025
Saturday, October 11 at 12 PM – 6 PM
Sample wines and live music at the 9th annual McKinney Wine & Music Festival. Your tasting pass includes a souvenir wine cup and 20 tasting tickets to use at any of the tasting stops around McKinney’s entertainment district. General entry tickets are $53.98 via Eventbrite. A VIP ticket option ($100.19) adds on exclusive seating, a photo booth, and two drink tickets redeemable at the Mi Cocina patio.

DFW Italian Festival (Irving)
Saturday, October 11 at 11 AM – 6 PM and Sunday, October 12 at 12 PM – 5 PM.

The third annual DFW Italian Festival is a celebration of Italy’s food and culture–and what would that be without wine? Eat, drink, mingle, enjoy! Sponsors/vendors include Banfi and Irving’s Italian wine specialist shop, Above Wines. $12.51 (21+), $7.18 (ages 11-20), free for kids 10 and under.
On Saturday evening, a communal Palio Dinner (ticketed separately) offers an authentic taste of Siena. Dinner tickets include your first glass of red or white wine.

Oktoberfest Weingarten by 4R Ranch Winery (Muenster)
Friday, October 10 at 5 PM to Sunday, October 12 at 6 PM
This small-town Oktoberfest features a Weingarten with wines by Muenster’s 4R Ranch Vineyards & Winery. Of course, there will be beer and sausages and pretzels to go along with your Texas wine.

Activities include a ceremonial keg tapping, dachshund races, stein hoisting competition, Bartender’s Triathlon, and lots of live music and dancing. $5 admission, $5 parking. Free admission on Friday evening. Adults in full German costume (and kids under 12) get in free all weekend. Das ist gut!

True Crime and Wine: Jack the Ripper (Ovilla)
Saturday, October 11 at 3 PM – 4:30 PM
Just in time for Halloween, the True Crime and Wine series continues with a close look at one of history’s most famous cold cases: Jack the Ripper. Cassaro Winery owner John Matthews blends his knowledge of wine and law enforcement to produce these popular true-crime presentations. Tickets are $42.42 (via Eventbrite) and include your first glass of wine. Additional wine is available for purchase by the glass or bottle.

Orin Swift Wine Dinner at Carrabba’s (Dallas)
Tuesday, October 14 at 6:30 PM or Wednesday, October 22 at 6:30 PM.
A decadent five-course fixed menu with five wine pairings for just $80 (plus tax and gratuity)! Start off with wild mushroom soup paired with a glass of Riondo Prosecco. Move on to salad, pasta, and a main course of filet mignon topped with lobster Bearnaise. End on a brûléed sangria-berry cheesecake paired with Orin Swift’s famous “8 Years in the Desert” Red Blend.

These wine dinners are almost never advertised–I had to physically go into my local Carrabba’s to get the dates. (And eat pasta while I was there. Arrgh!) Seating is usually communal. You can call the restaurant to make a reservation or RSVP online.

Wine & Dine Wine Dinner at Il Pastaio (Dallas)
Wednesday, October 15 at 6 PM – 8 PM
A three-course dinner featuring fine Italian wine paired with gourmet creations from Eataly‘s chefs. This month’s theme is Sardinia, featuring three wines from the Isola dei Nuraghi region. $145.93/person, not including gratuity. Tickets via Eventbrite.

Orin Swift Wine Dinner at Wine A Little (McKinney)
Wednesday, October 15 at 7 PM – 9 PM
Orin Swift fans rejoice! There is another Orin Swift multi-course wine dinner this month. This one is hosted by Wine A Little, McKinney’s boutique wine bar. Tickets are $116.35 via Eventbrite.

Spooktacular Winetail Class at Messina Hof (Grapevine)
Friday, October 24 at 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Learn to make spooky wine-based cocktails that will slay at your next Halloween party! You’ll stir and sip on three boo-licious bevvies while nibbling on complimentary hors d’ oeuvres in Messina Hof‘s Grapevine tasting room. $72.79/person including 20% staff gratuity and all taxes and fees. Crossroads of Texas GO TEXAN Country Festival (Waxahachie)
Saturday, Oct 25, 2025 at 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM
The Texas Department of Agriculture’s GO TEXAN program has been instrumental in boosting the Texas wine industry. Now you can sample Texas wines alongside other flavorful homegrown products at the one-day Crossroads of Texas street festival.
In addition to a selection of wines from Uncork Texas Wines, there’s plenty of local treats to enjoy. Downtown Waxahachie’s restaurants, wine bars, and breweries will be joining the party with drink specials and live music. Free admission.

Wine 101 at Blind Bishop (Dallas)
Wednesday, October 29 at 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Learn to taste wine like a pro with a two-hour, beginner-friendly session at Blind Bishop in Dallas’s Bishop Arts District. This Wine 101 class was designed by Dilek Caner, Master of Wine. It’s offered just a few times a year.
You will taste high-quality examples of classic wines (three reds and three whites) from around the world. A fun and educational way to level up your tasting skills and wine vocabulary! Light snacks (including foods to experiment with wine pairing) are provided. $81.19 including sales tax. Tickets here.
