Ah, April. When spring is in the air, and a wine lover’s thoughts turn gently from Sherry to rosé.

This month, we’re debuting a new monthly feature on The Wine Fairy blog: Local events! These are our top ten picks for viniferous April happenings in our wonderful city of Dallas and nearby areas.

Events are listed in chronological order. (If you missed an event, just keep scrolling!) Prices and availability are subject to change–please contact the event organizers directly with any questions. Events are 21+ unless otherwise noted.

Wine & Cheese Lovers Class at Rockler Woodworking

Tuesday, April 1 at 1 PM or Saturday, April 19 at 10:30 AM

Wouldn’t you like some awesome wood crafts to show off at your next house party? The folks at Rockler Woodworking and Hardware in Garland are offering a make-and-take especially for wine and cheese lovers. First, you’ll learn to use a wood lathe to create a wine bottle stopper and a cheese knife handle. Then, you’ll receive expert assistance crafting a live edge wooden cheese board.

Rockler Woodworking classes are for ages 14+. Under 18 must be accompanied by a supervising adult (adult does not need a ticket). $150/person. Tickets via Eventbrite.

Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival

Thursday, April 3, 2025 to Sunday, April 6, 2025

The Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival is described as a “four-day-four-night ode to the city’s diverse community of chefs and food artisans, craft brewers, winemakers, and distillers.” There are several events across the four days, all ticketed individually. Winery participants include Banfi Vintners, Caymus Vineyards, Delicato Family Wines, Piatelli Vineyards, Alexander Valley Vineyards, and Texas’s own Lost Draw Winery.

Prices range from $65 for Saturday’s Rise + Dine brunch fair to $145 for Friday evening’s Main Event. (Prices are for General Admission–Early Access tickets for most events are sold out as of this writing.) A portion of the proceeds benefit Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival Foundation, which provides local grants and culinary scholarship funds. Advance tickets available on the Foundation’s website.

50 & Up Speed Dating & Wine Tasting

Saturday, April 5 at 6 PM – 8 PM

If your online dating profile begins, “Must love wine” then this could be the event for you. Sip and mingle with interesting new people in a relaxed setting. Hosted by Ginger Me Events. For singles 50+. $30/person ($25 presale tickets available until March 14). Tickets via Eventbrite.

Grapevine’s 33rd Annual Spring Wine Trail

Saturday, April 12 at 10:30 AM – 6 PM

The City of Grapevine is ready to celebrate the new vintage with wine tastings, art, and shopping galore! Arrive early to witness a traditional Blessing of the Vines ceremony performed by a priest and a celebratory procession. After you collect your wine passport and souvenir glass, enjoy three 1-oz tastes at each of up to 9 Main Street venues.

The Spring 2025 tasting rooms are: Bingham Family Vineyards, Bull Lion Ranch Winery, Cross Timbers Winery, Grape Vine Springs Winery, Landon Winery, Messina Hof Winery, OG Cellars, Sloan & Williams Winery, and WINEestein’s. Tasting cards will be honored at between 11 AM and 6 PM.

Purchase a wine passport or pick up a pre-order at either of two locations: Peace Plaza (815 S. Main St.) or Liberty Park (215 S. Main St.). You can visit the wineries in any order. Most of the wineries are within easy walking distance and the city provides a courtesy shuttle that runs along Main Street during the event. Rain or shine. $50/person. Pre-order tickets here.

Uncorked at Eataly: Italian Bubbles

Saturday, April 12 at 3 PM – 4 PM

Savor a guided tasting of Italian sparkling wines and gourmet go-withs with one of Eataly‘s Beverage Experts. $45/person. Tickets via Eventbrite.

Saturday Trivia at The Wine Authority

Saturday, April 12 at 7 PM – 9 PM

All the smartest and sexiest wine lovers in DFW go to Saturday Trivia at The Wine Authority. It’s true. Win bragging rights or even a bar credit! Every other Saturday. Free to play.

Deep Ellum Wine Walk: Art in the City

Saturday, April 19 at 4 PM – 7 PM

Every third Saturday of the month, enjoy a self-guided wine walk with a seasonal theme. This month’s theme is Art in the City, celebrating Dallas Arts Month. Hosted by Discover Deep Ellum.

How does it work? Check in between 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM at the Plaza on Main and pick up your artist-designed wine glass and area map. Then, head to any of 15-20 local stores and restaurants for live entertainment and complimentary wine tastings.

$15 advance or $20 day of event. Tickets via Eventbrite.

Adult Easter Egg Hunt at Hotel Vin

Sunday, April 20 at 5 PM – 7 PM

An adults-only Easter Egg hunt on the WineYard at Marriott’s Hotel Vin. Uncover hidden eggs to find corks, which will enter you into a raffle for great prizes including bottles of wine and Bacchus Kitchen + Bar gift cards. The grand prize is a one-night stay at Hotel Vin.

Marchesi Antinori Family Wine Dinner at Maggiano’s NorthPark

Friday, April 25 at 6:30 – 9:30 PM

You may not be hungry for days after you savor this five-course Italian dinner with wine pairings from Marchesi Antinori and Stag’s Leap. (Are crab cakes and filet mignon even Italian? Who cares? Get in my belly.) $100/person. Tickets via Eventbrite.

Cassaro Winery True Crime and Wine: The Highway Strangler

Sunday, April 27 at 3 PM – 4:30 PM

John Matthews, owner and winemaker at Cassaro Winery, is also a law enforcement veteran and the award-winning author of six non-fiction books including The Eyeball Killer.

If you like a side of true crime with your Sangiovese, this event might be right up your alley. John will present a deep dive into the story of The Highway Strangler, a brutal serial killer who was convicted of perpetrating 14 murders in Southern California. $35 entry includes one glass of wine.
